Universally Unique Identifiers (UUIDs) and Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs) provide 128-bit hexadecimal keys designed to guarantee uniqueness across distributed distributed systems without requiring a central coordinating authority. Our bulk UUID generator generates cryptographically secure Version 4 UUIDs locally.
A UUID v4 is generated using random numbers. Out of 128 bits, 6 bits are reserved for version and variant metadata, leaving 122 bits of pure entropy. The canonical string format is 36 characters structured in five groups: xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-yxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.
The probability of generating a duplicate UUID v4 is so minuscule that it is practically zero. You would need to generate approximately 1 billion UUIDs per second for 85 years to have a 50% probability of a single collision.
Our generator uses the browser's hardware-backed window.crypto.getRandomValues() API rather than pseudo-random Math.random(), ensuring high entropy suitable for primary database keys and session tokens.
UUID is the standard defined by RFC 4122, while GUID is Microsoft's implementation term. In modern software engineering, they are functionally identical 128-bit identifiers.
Yes. Select your desired batch count and uppercase/lowercase formatting to generate up to 500 unique IDs simultaneously.
Yes. UUID v4 is widely supported across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and distributed key-value stores.
